Mitzi Lewellen

Mitzi came to the Modiano Lab from the Blazar Lab at the University of Minnesota. With degrees in English from the College of William & Mary and West Virginia University, she took a detour into research when she first became a laboratory animal care technician and then the mouse colony manager for Blazar Lab, which studies graft-vs-host disease. Mitzi has similar responsibilities in our lab, and she also coordinates patient recruitment into our cancer studies and manages our sample banks.
Although her animal family now consists of two cats, she was raised with three canine “siblings” – a German Shorthair and two German Wirehaired Pointers.
