Megan Duckett

Megan joined our lab in April of 2008. She was born and raised in Waukesha, Wisconsin. She graduated in 2006 from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a B.S. in Zoology and a certificate in Environmental Studies. She first became interested in scientific research at a young age, when numerous family trips caused her to become captivated by the ocean and wildlife. Various university courses expanded this interest to the molecular biology level.

Megan has been fortunate enough to spend a great deal of time overseas. Her international experiences have ranged from a marine biology research internship in Australia, to gibbon rehabilitation and research in Thailand. She spent 15 months living and traveling throughout Asia after graduating from college. Megan prides herself on being an adventurer (some may say vagabond), and hopes to continue to explore the corners of the globe whenever possible. She enjoys anything related to sports and being outside, from basketball and hiking to scuba diving and surfing (although the two latter activities become rather difficult when suffocating in Minnesotan snow). Megan has spent a lot of time working with dogs, and loves the opportunity to help the species through the Modiano lab, while learning about oncology every day. She hopes to pursue graduate studies in the near future.
