Leslie SharkeyIs a co-Principal Investigator in the lab. Leslie is from Washington DC, and completed a BS in Anthropology and Zoology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She completed her DVM and clinical pathology residency at Ohio State University, along with a PhD in cardiovascular physiology. Leslie practiced small animal medicine for 2 years in Burlington, Vermont before taking a faculty position in at Tufts University in Boston. After 5 years there, she joined the faculty at the University of Minnesota as Associate Professor of Clinical Pathology. Leslie’s clinical research emphasis is on evaluation of diagnostic testing in companion animals, and her basic research focus has been gender differences in cardiovascular diseases. She is merging these two areas to study cancers of cardiovascular origin in animals. Leslie lives with her husband and 3 teenagers, along with 2 dogs, a cat, and 2 guinea pigs, all obtained from various animal shelters and rescue organizations. To email Leslie, click here. |
