Diagnostic and Therapeutic Development

1. Diagnostic test for early detection of hemangiosarcoma
A patent has been filed with the United States patent office for this test. The test, which can be done using a simple blood sample, will be useful to support a tentative diagnosis of hemangiosarcoma, and to detect the presence of tumors before clinical signs are evident.
Licensing and marketing information can be obtained through the University of Colorado Technology Transfer Office

2. Fas ligand-based cancer gene therapy
We have explored the use of Fas ligand to treat naturally occurring cancer in dogs. A proof-of-concept trial was completed in dogs with malignant melanoma, and a new safety/efficacy study for osteosarcoma is in the planning stages. These studies are conducted in partnership with ApopLogic Pharmaceuticals, LLC.

3. Yeast-based vaccines
A new project for preclinical development of yeast-based vaccines to treat canine hemangiosarcoma has been approved for funding by the AKC Canine Health Foundation. The technology was developed by our colleagues at GlobeImmune, Inc. News on progress that may lead to clinical studies will be posted as they are available.
